Holy Great Martyress Marina
Asia Minor, ~300 AD
Disowned by her father for being a Christian and imprisoned at 15. She was fastened with nails to a board, torn with tridents, and scorched with fire. As they tried to drown her, a light shone from Heaven and a dove descended with a golden crown. Marina emerged completely healed, and all the onlookers believed in Christ. Pagan rulers ordered all be killed: 15,000 Christians perished and Saint Marina was beheaded. She is celebrated July 17th.
